Lego Marvel SuperHeroes: The video game

Lego toys have grown in popularity for years and years and years. In fact, I am a builder myself. Lego has definitely reached out to pop culture such as Star Wars as well as get more promotions. With Lego books, clothes, TV  programs (all on Cartoon Network) and Lego video games. While this happened, Marvel comics has really grown. We all knew that one day their paths would collide and form Lego Marvel Superheroes. Since this is a huge game, I will have to break it down in paragraphs.

STORY
--------------------------
Right before you start in to the game by literally pressing start. There is a cutscene where logos made out of Lego are devoured by Galactus. At the same time, the Silver Surfer was shredding cosmic waves. Then Galactus says that he needs more to satisfy his hunger. Another cutscene will appear after you made a new game. In this scene, Iron Man is following the Silver Surfer when the gnarly metal is shot with missiles by Doctor Doom. Then he finds out that pieces of the surfer's board called the cosmic bricks have broken off and fell to various Marvel Comics locations. Doctor Doom plans to gather these to fuel Doctor Doom's doom ray of doom. To get these bricks, he hires every crook, super villain, and bad guy to retrieve them. They all have to commit crimes in order for them to get these bricks, thus grabbing the attention of the Marvel heroes. The story line is a little interesting, and I don't mean to spoil anything but let's just say someone will stab Doom in the back. (Not literally)

GAMEPLAY
--------------------------
The game play takes after the game Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes. Despite that Lego Batman 2 uses the classic look for the mini-figures, has classic characters (If you want Damian Wayne you'll have use the character customization), and doesn't have big figures, Lego Marvel is just the opposite. the game uses styles from the marvel movies, the Disney XD show Ultimate Spider-Man, and one character from Marvel NOW. (Just to be clear that character is Superior Spider-Man). Although there is a part where Magneto breaks the Mark 6 Iron Man suit and Tony Stark temporarily wore the grey suit called Mark 1 suit before switching to the Mark 42 suit which was worn in Iron Man 3. Also, instead of costumes inspired by the X-Men quadrilogy, (BTK, Quadrilogy means four movies. Nuff said.) the costumes are classic and Cyclopes wears his underwear on the outside of his pants. There also an open world environment that you can fly around in. While Lego Batman 2 had the citizen in peril, Lego Marvel has Stan Lee in peril. Once you save Stan Lee he says his catch phrase "Excellsior!" I don't know how, but you can unlock Stan Lee as a mini figure. What's cool about him is that he has the powers of every Marvel superhero. For example, he get big and green if he gets angry. The controlls are really simple, but I have a habit of crashing my vehicles. Once you beat the game you unlock bonus levels narrated by Deadpool, like Iron Man trying to raise the mood at his party. I think that if you beat all of the Deadpool levels then you'll probably unlock the Merc with a Mouth.

COMIC ACCURACY
-------------------------
Lego Marvel Superheroes is of course, a comic game. So if the makers of any comic game really want their customers to be satisfyed, they need to make the comic part as accurately as possible. The game was released in 2013 but it doesn't really follow the Marvel NOW comics because the movies and the original characters themselves are more popular than the comics published today. Altough they do have Superior Spider-Man as an unlockable minifigure and maybe there are more Marvel NOW styled characters but that's just a big IF. Meanwhile, in the bonus level where Kingpin has fake dental services, they portrayed Elektra as a supervillain who works for the big and well-dressed man. 1.Elektra loves DareDevil and assists him. 2.Elektra has her own movie. They don't just give movies to supervillains. 3.Elektra would rather be tied to Abomination and be beaten by Hulk than join forces with Kingpin. Acorrdong to ITunes, Elektra is hunted by Kingpin in DareDevil the movie. I'm pretty sure they invented a new character for humor. In the final cutscene, Black Panther introduces his sidekick: the adorable Mr. Tiddles. Mr. Tiddles is a black cat who wears a Captain America costume. In one of the street missions, Black Panther asks you to find Mr. Tiddles after they split up. They didn't mention the Avengers very much, the Fantastic Four still wear the blue outfits because those are more iconic, and as for the X-Men, they mentioned the Brotherhood of Mutants a lot and Emma Frost was around some. So to sum up this section, their style wasn't really based of the comics, but they did that to make people understand it.

EASTER EGGS
-------------------
No no no. Not the Easter Bunny's eggs, I mean secrets in video games. Seriously, how can a bunny lay eggs? An example of an Easter egg is the fact that Harley Quinn has a discarded pregnancy test and it reads positive. This section is about the Easter eggs, the difficulty to find them, and how interesting they are. At a certain island (I don't remember which) you can find a secret level called "The Brick Apple." It's a place made out of Legos and have multiple Lego Marvel sets. Your two characters are Doctor Doom and Galactus. To complete it, you have to make 1,000,000 studs by breaking everything around you. That'll take a while. Also, if you look closely in the cutscenes, you'll notice Deadpool and Stan Lee getting into some comic fun. Like, Stan Lee getting into a S.H.I.E.L.D. jet or Deadpool stealing a pizza. Speaking of Deadpool, another Easter egg is found in Deadpool's room on the helicarrier. If you look closely, you'll notice a dartboard with Wolverine's face on it. Wow. He must really hate Logan.

FAMILY FRIENDLINESS
-------------------------------
Oh. Are you still reading this? Well I'll cut you some slack and make this short. 100% family friendly.
